THE CENTER IS THE PEOPLE, THEIR THOUGHTS AND THEIR SENSATIONS..

Agata Schubert-Hauck, born in Krakau, Poland, began her artistic development as a trained furniture restorer, with tangible materials. Subsequently, at the art academy in Düsseldorf, she mastered the depiction of complex figurative scenarios.  In the meantime, she has expanded her realistic accuracy with the playfulness of an expressive openness, which breathtakingly connects the human figure with its dissolution.

The pictorial representation leads to the border between figuration and abstraction.

In Schubert’s art, the body proves beyond a doubt to be the beginning and the end of our experience. It is the lynchpin of our burden and pleasure, our desires and fears, and the site of an infinite circulation of desire. The depiction of physicality, sexuality and eroticism in painting has a long tradition that goes back to the Middle Ages in terms of art history and which is continued with every current painting.

At the same time, the painterly representation of the naked body inevitably competes with the countless naked facts that haunt culture in many photos and films between entertaining advertising and direct pornography. Schubert contrasts the clumsy effect of physicality staged in the media with a body that is inextricably linked to the depths of the soul. Seductive, provocative and with astonishing naturalness, Schubert’s painting thus becomes a plea for subtle pictorial differences.
